Some of these animals were considered to be symbols, and some symbols were matched with similar characteristics of the animal and an Egyptian god's powers. For example, the beetle was a symbol that meant survival based on how it buried itself in sand for protection.
~Fish in the Waters~There are many types of fish found in the Red Sea, the Nile River, and other bodies of water. These types of fish consist of eels, bu, shep, perch, catfish, carps, mullets, tilapia, elephant-snout fish, tiger fish, and moon fish. Some fish such as the bu and the shep were shunned because of the way they tasted. The lepidotes were considered sacred. Fish is a major part of the Egyptian diet as well.

~Predators~
The most successful predators are considered to be crocodiles, loins, tigers, and cheetahs. Crocodiles prey mainly on fish and mammals and birds that come close to the water. Lions, cheetahs, and tigers prey on mammals such as antelope, zebras, and gazelles. They also sometimes eat fish. All of these predators are carnivores.
